Uzbekistan Car Production surged in the first quarter of 2025, recording a 6% increase compared to the same period in 2024. According to the National Statistics Committee, the country produced a total of 89,848 passenger vehicles in Q1, underlining the ongoing growth and diversification of its automotive sector.
Chevrolet Cobalt and Damas Drive the Numbers
The Uzbekistan Car Production increase was largely driven by the Chevrolet Cobalt, which remained the top-performing model. Its production rose by 13.58%, totaling 32,200 units, and accounted for nearly one-third of all cars produced in the country. The Damas also showed strong growth, with 22,400 units manufactured—up by 17.97% year-on-year.
Other notable performers included the Onix, which experienced a massive 41.21% rise to 11,770 units. Kia bounced back from a slower winter period with a 25% jump, reaching 6,150 cars produced. Meanwhile, Haval showed exceptional improvement with an eightfold increase, totaling 1,885 units.
However, not all models fared equally well. Chery and Tracker reported a decline in output—Chery by 33.24% (1,996 units) and Tracker by 12.57% (10,513 units).
Electric Vehicles and New Trends
BYD Jizzakh Leads Electric Push
Uzbekistan Car Production in the electric vehicle (EV) segment also showed promise. BYD’s plant in Jizzakh manufactured 2,913 EVs during the first quarter, highlighting growing domestic interest and capacity in electric mobility. This move aligns with the country’s strategy to modernize its auto industry and reduce emissions.
In January and February 2025 alone, 53,522 cars were produced, slightly higher than the 53,329 units recorded during the same period in 2024. Again, the Chevrolet Cobalt led with 19,461 units—an increase of 21.1%. Damas followed with 12,983 units (up from 11,752), while the Onix rose by 25.4%, reaching 6,718 units.
Sales and Market Share
Sales in Q1 2025 reached 75,353 units, led by UzAuto Motors, which captured 54.3% of the total market. Khorezm Auto followed with 28.2%, ADM Jizzakh held 11.4%, and BYD Uzbekistan commanded 5.4%. Other brands collectively represented less than 1% of market share.
Chevrolet remained the sales leader with 62,260 units sold—nearly half being Cobalt models. Kia sold 5,431 units, while BYD's EVs accounted for 4,045 sales. Chery and Haval rounded out the top five with 1,782 and 1,410 units sold, respectively.
